Grounded in human genetics
The programme starts from genetic discoveries about how the sweat gland is controlled.
Hidros Therapeutics International (HTI) is a Swedish biotech company developing a targeted RNA therapy for primary focal hyperhidrosis.
The condition
Primary focal hyperhidrosis is chronic, excessive sweating in defined areas of the body, such as the palms, soles, underarms or face, without an underlying disease. It is triggered by heat, stress and emotion.
For many people it has a significant impact on social life, work and wellbeing. Existing treatments each involve trade-offs in effect, convenience, cost or side effects.
Our approach
Sweat is produced by eccrine glands in the skin. Our programme is designed to act inside these glands, locally, in the areas where sweating causes problems.
The work builds on research in genetics at Uppsala University by our scientific founders, Professor Niklas Dahl and Joakim Klar, PhD.
The programme starts from genetic discoveries about how the sweat gland is controlled.
We are developing a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to reduce sweat production in the gland.
The therapy is intended for local use, where the patient needs it.
The company
Hidros Therapeutics International is a privately held biotech company based in Uppsala, Sweden.
